Sir Peter MASEFIELD MA CEng Hon.DSc FRAeS: pre-war FAIREY DESIGN, helped form pre-war “HEARKERS”. as TECHNICAL EDITOR of “AEROPLANE”, stressed necessity of AIRCRAFT RECOGNITION TRAINING and later helped ROYAL OBSERVER CORPS & OTHER FORCES, becoming EDITOR of “Aeroplane Spotter” & “Inter-Services Journal on AIRCRAFT RECOGNITION”; Personal ADVISER Lord BEAVERBROOK and Secretary WAR CABINET COMMITTEE on AIR TRANSPORT.
Was also AIR and WAR CORRESPONDENT on “Sunday Times 1940-43, FLYING and with personal & SERVICE links played an important early LIAISON WORK with UNITED STATES ARMY AIR FORCE Commanders and on early USAAF Raids; at war’s end for two years he was British CIVIL AIR ATTACHE in WASHINGTON, USA later Chief Executive of BEA 1949-55 and influential figure in postwar CIVIL AVIATION in many different roles and ways
